The branch offers antenatal classes in the last 3 months of pregnancy for expectant parents

We run antenatal classes, available in the last 3 months of pregnancy, held either at the teacher's home or at another meeting place.  Couples, women by themselves, or the woman and her chosen labour partner can attend.  The classes are an opportunity to learn about the ways relaxation, massage and different positions can help the woman and her labour partner during the birth of the baby.  Understanding what happens in childbirth can help to reduce tension and anxiety, giving both partners the opportunity to look forward to the birth with confidence.

The course consists of 21 hours' contact time (to include a session at Wycombe General Hospital and a reunion), which can be arranged in a variety of ways; sessions can be held in the evening, during the day, and often several sessions are put together for a full day's class.  We hope to cover all aspects of late pregnancy, childbirth and the first few days of life with your new baby.

We recommend that you book your place as soon as possible as demand is high.  We do run extra courses occasionally at short notice to cope with demand!  You do not have to be a member of the NCT to attend one of our courses, and your partner is encouraged to attend at no extra charge.

Refresher courses for subsequent births are available if a full NCT antenatal course has been attended previously.

Please contact us to reserve a place and receive information about the current course costs.

Our antenatal teachers and postnatal leaders undergo a thorough training with the NCT although they are not required to be medically qualified.  All teachers, counsellors and leaders are expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year.  Their role is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies.  They do not offer medical advice and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.

We regret that we are not able to put the dates of classes on the website, as we arrange classes to meet the demand for them.  If you would like to attend one of our classes we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment!   Please e-mail us for the latest class information. Thank you.
